VALUES
At the core of everything I do is the belief that we are one. That you and I are one. I am my best when I see myself in others, and my worst when I forget. Non-harm is my constant aim, knowing who you are is all and me.
I believe in the brilliance of becoming — in the power of holding on when all feels lost, and getting up again, and again, and again. Of becoming in bits until you’ve become someone new. Every person holds the capacity to evolve — to learn, to heal, to grow, to open. I stand for grace in the face of spite and gentleness in the face of judgment, because cruelty can hollow a person — but compassion can fill them, bit by bit.
I believe in laughter as revival and love as the most worthy pursuit. Life is not a test. We’ve all already won. Stop forgetting, or you’ll spend your whole life trying when you could have been dancing. The point is to dance (bonus points if you can do it like no one’s watching).
I believe in impossible beauty, because I’ve seen it in mountains. We have senses built to marvel and hearts built to swell. We are meant to be staggered by this world, not dulled. The world is a miracle to witness; I will keep my eyes open to it and help others do the same.
I believe that kindness is the necessity that will get us through this mess. We’re all out here breaking in places no one sees. We're all in this, hurting — but it means we're all in this together. We are all here together to walk each other Home.
When I was a kid, sometimes video games were all I had. Depression often had me catatonic for long periods, yet even on the floor I could explore fantastical places and see things I’d never dreamed of. I saved worlds. Kindness always won. I don’t think I could have held on without them. I don’t think I’d have had the chance to become what I am today, bit by bit.
It was those distant lands I visited in the stillness of my room that made me want to break out and see as much of our world as I could when I began to wake up. It was those stories that made me want to create my own. It was the hearts of those characters that taught me who to be. Everyone shatters; heroes keep going. I learned that there is no such thing as game over — there is only walking away from the game, and I am committed to the fierce, quiet brilliance of starting over again, and again, and again.
I want to test video games because I want to help
make worlds that stagger.
I want to test video games because I want to help
make stories that players will remember forever.
I want to test video games because I want to help
make games that leave people better for having played them.
And I want to do it together.
